How should I care for my deck?
We regularly receive questions regarding what is the best way to care for a deck. The answer is simply do not lapse in the recommended treatment. You should restain your deck every 3 to 4 years with an oil-based or acrylic solid stain. When primed correctly, a painted deck will need little to no retouching. This might vary depending on the level of exposure to sun and harsh weather conditions. The longer the structure goes unprotected after we’ve treated it, the more it may cost in the long-run to restore. Especially if a semitransparent product is used vs. a solid.
Does my new deck need to be cleaned before it is treated?
To ensure a smoother application, your deck will be power-washed and sanded to remove any existing imperfections or sharp edges as needed. This careful priming of the wood makes for a more even distribution and finished look. A newly built deck will likely not need power-washing. However, if there is residual mud present from construction or any additional marks, we will treat these areas with our chemical solution.
