Should I stain or paint my porch?
If you have a high-grade of wood and prefer the natural aesthetic staining is always recommended. Staining enhances the natural grain of the wood rather than covering it up. Unlike paints that might flake over time, staining fades over time so when its time for reapplication there is less prep work involved.
If your wood is older or you prefer a polished and modern look rather than the wood grain, painting is recommended. It will allow the screen porch to blend seamlessly into the house and leaves all imperfections left on the wood unseen.
